Demonstrative pronouns

අද දින ලිපිය ගෙනෙන්නේ pronouns වල තවත් වර්ගයක් වන demonstrative pronouns පිලිබදවයි.

Demonstrative pronouns are used for pointing out things. The words this,that, these and those are demonstrative pronouns.
දේවල් පෙන්වා දීම සඳහා නිරූපණ සර්වනාම භාවිතා කරයි. මෙය, එය , මේවා සහ ඒවා යන වචන නිරූපණය කරන සර්වනාම වේ.

THIS 

We use this , most commonly to point to  a thing and a  person  that are close to the speaker or writer, or a thing that are happening now:
අපි මෙය බොහෝ විට භාවිතා කරන්නේ කථිකයාට හෝ ලේඛකයාට සමීපව ඇති යම්කිසි එක දෙයක් ,එක පුද්ගලයෙකු හෝ දැන් සිදුවෙමින් පවතින දෙයක් පිළිබද ප්‍රකාශ කිරීමේදීය. 

• This is my house - මේ මගේ නිවසයි
• This is a hill. - මෙය කන්දකි. 
• What is this? - මේ කුමක් ද?
• Did you drop this? - ඔබ මෙය අතහැරියාද?
• Hi, Jane! This is Michael! - හායි, ජේන්! මේ මයිකල්!
• It’s raining again. This is awful! - නැවතත් වැස්ස. මෙය භයානකයි

THESE

We use these  , most commonly to point to  things and people  that are close to the speaker or writer, or  things that are happening now:
අපි මෙය බොහෝ විට භාවිතා කරන්නේ කථිකයාට හෝ ලේඛකයාට සමීපව ඇති දේවල්,  පුද්ගලයන්  හෝ දැන් සිදුවෙමින් පවතින දේවල්  පිළිබද ප්‍රකාශ කිරීමේදීය.

• These are donkeys - මේ බූරුවන් ය
• These are stones. - මේවා ගල් ය.
• These are bottles of water. - මේවා වතුර බෝතල්.
• These are doctors, They treat patients. - මේ අය වෛද්‍යවරු, ඔවුන් රෝගීන්ට ප්‍රතිකාර කරනවා.

  

  These are my books.

**You use this and these when you point to things near you. - ඔබ , ඔබ අසල ඇති දේවල් පෙන්වා   දෙන විට මෙය සහ මේවා භාවිතා කරයි

THAT

We use that most commonly to point to a thing and a  person  which are not easy to identify in a situation. It  are often more distant from the speaker, and sometimes closer to the listener:
යම් දෙයක් සහ තත්වයක් තුළ හඳුනා ගැනීමට පහසු නොවන එක දෙයක් ,එක පුද්ගලයෙකු පෙන්වා දීම සදහා  අපි එය බහුලව භාවිතා කරමු. එය බොහෝ විට කථිකයාගෙන් වඩා දුරස්ථ වන අතර සමහර විට සවන්දෙන්නන්ට සමීප වේ:

• That is John’s house. - ඒ ජෝන් ගේ නිවසයි.
• That is a mountain. - එය කන්දකි.
• We can do better than that. - අපට ඊට වඩා හොඳින් කළ හැකිය.
• No, that’s not mine. - නැත, එය මගේ නොවේ.
• You mean you won? That’s amazing! - ඔබ අදහස් කළේ ඔබ දිනුවා කියාද? එය පුදුම සහගතයි!
• Hello, who is that speaking, please? - හෙලෝ, කරුණාකර කවුද ඒ කතා කරන්නේ?
• Hello, is that you? - හෙලෝ, ඒ ඔබද?

THOSE

We use those  most commonly to point to things  and people   which are not easy to identify in a situation. They are often more distant from the speaker, and sometimes closer to the listener:
යම් දෙයක් සහ තත්වයක් තුළ හඳුනා ගැනීමට පහසු නොවන දේවල්  ,පුද්ගලයන් පෙන්වා දීම සදහා  අපි එය බහුලව භාවිතා කරමු. ඒවා බොහෝ විට කථිකයාගෙන් වඩා දුරස්ථ වන අතර සමහර විට සවන්දෙන්නන්ට සමීප වේ:

• Those are horses. - ඒ අශ්වයන් ය.
• What are those? - ඒවා මොනවාද?
• Those are books. - ඒවා පොත් ය.
• Those are elephants. - ඒ අලි.
• Those are bus drivers that attend to the meeting. - ඒ අය රැස්වීමට සහභාගි වන බස් රියදුරන්.
• Those are children that won the match. - ඒ තරගය ජයගත් දරුවන්.

**You use that and those when you point to things farther away. - ඔබ ,ඔබට දුරින් ඇති  දේවල් ගැන පැවසීමේදී  එය, ඒවා භාවිතා කරයි
