Plural Nouns - බහු වචන නාම පද

අද ලිපිය ගෙනෙන්නේ nouns වල සතරවන  වර්ගය වන Plural  Nouns පිලිබදවයි.එනම් බහු  වචන නාම පද පිලිබදවයි.

When you are talking about two or more people, animals, places, or things, use plural nouns.  Most nouns are made plural by adding -s at the end.

ඔබ පුද්ගලයන් දෙදෙනෙකු හෝ වැඩි ගණනක්, සතුන්, ස්ථාන හෝ දේවල් ගැන කතා කරන විට, බහු නාම පද භාවිතා කරන්න. බොහෝ නාම පද බහු වචන බවට පත් කරනුයේ අවසානයේ -s එකතු කිරීමෙනි.

පහත දැක්වෙන්නේ එලෙස වූ බහු වචන නාම පද කිහිපයක්.

ඒක වචන නාම පද බහු වචනයට හැරවීමේදී කරුණු බොහොමයක් දැන සිටීම අත්‍යවශ්‍ය වනවා. ඒවා පහත පරිදි වේ.

• Nouns that end in s, ss, ch, sh or x, are made plural by adding es(S, ss, ch, sh හෝ x වලින් අවසන් වන නාම පද අගට es එකතු කිරීමෙන් බහු වචන බවට පත් වේ)

• Most nouns that end in y are made plural by changing the y to i and  adding es.(Y වලින් අවසන් වන බොහෝ නාම පද බහු වචන බවට පත් කර ඇත්තේ y යන්න i ට වෙනස් කිරීමෙන් සහ es එකතු කිරීමෙනි.)

•  Nouns that have a vowel before the y are made plural by simply adding s at the end. (Y ට පෙර ස්වරයක් ඇති නාම පද අවසානයේ දී s එකතු කිරීමෙන් බහු වචන බවට පත් වේ.)

• The plural form of some nouns is the same as the singular form.(සමහර නාම පදවල බහු ස්වරූපය ඒකීය ස්වරූපයට සමාන වේ.)

• Some nouns are always plural.(සමහර නාම පද සෑම විටම බහු වචන වේ) 

trousers, glasses, shorts, spectacles, jeans, goggles, pants ,scissors, tights, binoculars, pajamas, pliers

•  Some nouns are usually plural(සමහර නාම පද සාමාන්‍යයෙන් බහු වචන වේ). 

shoes, chopsticks, sandals, gloves, slippers, clogs, boots, socks

• {You can use a pair of with these plural nouns. For example:

a pair of trousers /ජෝඩුව 

a pair of pants

a pair of glasses

a pair of scissors

a pair of chopsticks

a pair of sandals

a pair of gloves}
