Collective Nouns - සාමූහික නාම පද

Nouns පස් වන කොටස වන collective Nouns හෙවත් සාමූහික නාම පද පිලිබදවයි අද ලිපිය දිගහැරෙන්නේ.

Collective nouns are words for groups of people, animals or things.
These are nouns for groups of people.

සාමූහික නාම පද යනු පුද්ගලයින් කණ්ඩායම්, සත්ව කණ්ඩායම් හා සමුහ වශයෙන් පවතින දේවල්  සඳහා වචන වේ,

1)Here are some collective nouns for groups of people.(පුද්ගලයින් කණ්ඩායම් සඳහා සාමූහික නාම පද කිහිපයක් මෙහි වේ.)

a family(පවුලක්)                                   a crew(කාර්ය මණ්ඩලයක්)
a team(කණ්ඩායමක්)                             a club(සමාජ ශාලාවක්)

******** Special Note ********

Collective nouns may be used with a singular verb or with a plural verb. If the group is acting as a single unit, use a singular verb. If group members are acting as individuals, use a plural verb. For example:(සාමූහික නාම පද තනි ක්‍රියා පදයකින් හෝ බහු ක්‍රියා පදයකින් භාවිතා කළ හැකිය. කණ්ඩායම තනි ඒකකයක් ලෙස ක්‍රියා කරන්නේ නම්, ඒකීය ක්‍රියා පදයක් භාවිතා කරන්න. කණ්ඩායම් සාමාජිකයන් පුද්ගලයන් ලෙස ක්‍රියා කරන්නේ නම්, බහු ක්‍රියා පදයක් භාවිතා කරන්න. උදාහරණයක් වශයෙන්:)

The crowd was orderly.
                    or
The crowd were clapping, yelling
and cheering.

2)Many groups of animals have their own special collective nouns.
(සතුන්ගේ බොහෝ කණ්ඩායම් වලට ඔවුන්ගේම විශේෂ සාමූහික නාම පද ඇත.)
(පහත සියල්ලෙන්ම කියවෙන්නේ රංචුවක්,රැලක්,පොදියක් වැනි සාමුහික වචනයි.

3)Some groups of things also have their own special collective nouns.
(සමහර දේවල් වලට ඔවුන්ගේම විශේෂ සාමූහික නාම පදද ඇත.)
These are the default collective nouns for things.All words are giving the meaning as collective-මේවා දේවල් සඳහා සුපුරුදු සාමූහික නාම පද වේ. සියලුම වචන සාමූහිකයට අර්ථයක් ලබා දෙයි.

• Some nouns name the amount or form of something.(සමහර නාම පදවල යමක් හෝ ප්‍රමාණය නම් කරයි.)

• The words a piece of mean a single serving or part of something.(කෑල්ලක් යන්නෙන් අදහස් කරන්නේ තනි හෝ යම් දෙයක කොටසක් යන්නයි..මෙහි piece යන්නෙන් කෑල්ලක් ,කැබැල්ලක්,ස්වල්පයක් යන අරුත් දෙයි.)
